We leave Ft. Cochi with our car and driver, headed to
Alleppey, about a 90” drive. I
thought this ‘car and driver’ idea was great – I’m revising that opinion. This driver was a frustrated Indi 500,
Monte Carlo competitor – 90” of horn beeping, tail-gating, sudden braking,
lurching, heart-stopping overtaking maneuvers . . . by the time we got to our
homestay in Alleppey, I was limp and nauseous. It took me all afternoon to recover.
Fortunately we were in a small, sweet homestay, Bella Kerala
(recommended by a fellow traveler in Kochi).
The owner, Biju, was most solicitous and brought me ayurvedic tea and
honey. Just sitting on the
balcony was restorative.
The gorgeous, tranquil garden . . .
Two little ones from across the street.
Tomorrow, adventures on the ferry!
